We’ve asked the REMOTE team which destinations are on their BUCKET LIST FOR 2022. From Mexico to Argentina, check out the places that are awakening our trailblazer instincts!

Mexico City and Baja California Sur, Mexico

by Roberto Bitelman, director

“I’m dying to visit Mexico. With so many interesting places, I’m thinking of a journey of at least 15 days to get to know a bit of the country’s culture and its natural beauty.  I’m particularly interested in exploring Mexico City with its vibrant energy and Baja California Sur with its deserted beaches – and, if possible, to go glamping with Todos Santos Eco Adventures.”

Mexico’s capital city is, for sure, a melting pot of cultures, history and contemporary adventures. The second biggest city in Latin America in terms of population offers a variety of experiences for all types of travelers. REMOTE Community member and local expert Journey Mexico has an array of itineraries in the city, ranging from attending Day of the Dead celebrations to ecotourism and conservation experiences in Xochimilco.

With very different characteristics, Todos Santos is a charming coastal village in Baja California Sur. Todos Santos Eco Adventures is a leading specialist in the region, taking travelers on single or multi-day experiences that can include whale watching, swimming with sea lions, hiking, surfing, cooking lessons and art classes.

Todos Santos Eco Adventures

Comuna do Ibitipoca, Minas Gerais, Brazil

by Lígia Secco, director

Lígia says, “the possibility of combining nature adventures with the local community’s relaxing lifestyle,” is exactly what she’s looking for this year.

There’s no doubt that Comuna do Ibitipoca is the perfect place for it. The accommodations complex is surrounded by an immense green area, 80% of which is a forest reserve, and strives to be a space for sustainable innovation filled with Minas Gerais traditions. From the tour guide to the Yucca restaurant’s staff, all workers are local residents, representing a deeper connection with the culture and community. Comuna is a place to be explored at a slow pace. Stay at different accommodations, taste the typical food at the restaurants, get to know the locals and experience adventures at neighboring Ibitipoca State Park.

Comuna do Ibitipoca

Bolivia

by Clara Davies, diretor

“Bolivia has been on my bucket list for a while – the unique combination of landscapes and ethnic groups are just the perfect balance for an adventure journey integrated with traditions. Hearing Janette (from Bolivia Milenaria) talk about her country with so much passion has convinced me that now is the time to visit!”

The natural and cultural diversity are Bolivia’s biggest draws. Exploring it with a local expert, like Bolivia Milenaria, is an opportunity to get to know the secrets of this rich country in depth. Travelers often combine the country with Chile, but Bolivia deserves a complete and exclusive journey.

Northwest Argentina

By Marcelo Pontes, exhibitor relations manager

“I was impressed by the beauty of Cafayate when we were there in early 2020 for a technical visit. Since we will return to Cafayate in October for the REMOTE Latin America immersion, I can’t wait to explore more of the region with support from local Community experts”

We’re all anxious to explore this fantastic region during REMOTE Cafayate this year. Northwest Argentina is a magical place still off the beaten path for many travelers. With a combination of desert landscapes, vineyards and traditional communities, the region that encompasses Salta and Cafayate holds surprises to suit all explorers.

Cafayate

Brazil’s wine region and Cambará do Sul

by Alice Moura, Community Manager

“I would love to combine Brazil’s wine region with Cambará do Sul. A lot of people don’t even know that we have award-winning wines in Brazil and the canyon region where Parador Cambará do Sul is located is simply amazing”

Bento Gonçalves and its surroundings, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, are known as the Vineyards Valley and it was the first region in Brazil to obtain recognition as Geographical Indication. Wine tourism attracts visitors to the charming area throughout the year.

A few kilometers away, Aparados da Serra National Park is home to one of the most surprising landscapes in Brazil, with giant canyons interspersed with plateaus. This is where the bold hotel Parador Cambará do Sul is located, inviting visitors to an immersion in nature and local culture. Guests can experience such amazing adventures as horseback riding and hot air ballooning.
